Paper Flowers

COMING SOON AS A WORKSHOP CATEGORY

… and the bride wanted her bouqet made out of paper flowers …

Where to start, comic books of course ! – … what the bride wants …

luckily the comic books were all supplied but in order to balance the look and shape of the bouqet; I needed at least one more (subtle) flower shape, that would create volume and draw the eye to the colourful comic book roses.

The next challenge was how to create a bouqet shape to build the flowers onto, here I’ve used cardboard cones and natural fibre miliners mesh as a base for the structure.

Foliage, dynamic shapes that would bring the whole design together. This aspect led me to remember that buttonholes and corsages were also required.

Plus, the back of the bouqet must work as well as the front, no untidy, snaggy edges to spoil the dress; no dye run as the bride shakily grasps the bouqet to hide behind …

Almost there now … a steam punk element has definately crept in to the reception decorations … having done a bit more research I’m really pleased with how the flowers now work within the overall theme …

More importantly the Bride & Groom are over the moon with the end result …
